Ryan was born in Hawaii to a military family and moved to Charleston in 2009. He graduated from the University of South Carolina before attending the Florida State University College of Law. While in law school, he pursued his master’s degree in oceanography and clerked for a large litigation firm. Ryan also interned for a federal judge and clerked for the Florida Department of Financial Services.

Following graduation, Ryan returned home to Charleston and was admitted to the South Carolina Bar. He practiced general civil defense at a local firm prior to joining Smith Law Group of the Carolinas.

Outside of work, Ryan enjoys walking his dog Malibu on the beach, sampling Charleston’s culinary scene, and exploring all the Lowcountry has to offer.
